APEC regional trade and investment in education services the focus of DFAT symposium in Malaysia

At the DFAT symposium on "Facilitating good regulatory practices for trade and investment in higher education services in the APEC region, held in Kuala Lumpur on 20-21 August 2013, regulators, trade and education officials from 10 APEC economies (Australia; China; Indonesia; Malaysia; New Zealand; Peru; Philippines; Papua New Guinea; Thailand and Viet Nam), as well as academics and industry representatives from across the region (including Hong Kong, China; Japan; Russia and the United States) discussed the regulation of trade and investment in higher education services.

Discussed during the symposium were strategies to enhance student, researcher and education provider mobility identified in Annex D to the Declaration of the 20th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting held in Vladivostok in 2012.
